After the launch of the book What’s Bioeconomy? On the 30th of March 2021 Transition2Bio started the pilot version of the training course for primary schools’ teachers, aimed to increase knowledge and awareness of the bioeconomy and bio-based products.
The aim of the course was to show tools and notions needed to held a training course with students (as soon as the pandemic situation makes it possible) that will bring them closer to the world of bioeconomy from multiple points of view. From a new correct lifestyle, more sustainable and in line with European policies of the Green Deal, to an understanding of the multiple opportunities that the circular economy creates. This training activity highlighted all the topics needed to talk about how the bioeconomy can contribute in addressing the pressing environmental, societal and economic challenges, towards a more sustainable production, consumption and lifestyle. The various bioeconomy ecosystems like land and see, but also production and transformation will be covered, as well as impacts (e.g. new jobs, new educational pathways, careers, new way of living and valorizing what is actually considered waste).
Another important objective of the course was to distribute the book for kids What’s Bioeconomy?. Thanks to this training opportunity, teachers became further familiarised with innovative methodologies to teach bioeconomy, one of this was the book for kids the project – and BIOVOICES’ project before – promoted.
Thanks to the attendance of experts, the course illustrated to teachers what bioeconomy is and what bio-based products are, empowered them with tools and materials that they can easily adopt with their students in class.
We reached around 200 teachers from all over Italy.
